The new job

Well, I've been doing the new job on my own now for two days. And all I can really say is that I haven't stuffed anything up big yet. Which is good i guess.

The guys at the new store all seem nice, and I'm getting along well with them.

I'm very aware that some of them I'll need to be more forceful with over the next few weeks. Which is going to be a challenge for me I know. See how it goes.

The general comment is that I'm doing a better job that the previous guy, which I find hard to believe.

Over all the new job is a little more money (but still not a good wage), a lot more work (so i'm gonna have to be more forceful about taking breaks), a lot less personal space (so no web surfing, or even writing on my blog from work), an earlier start to the day (need to leave the house at 7:00 am), get off on time (no more staying back to 6-7pm), a lot more responsibility (if I don't do my job other people can't do theirs). So I'm still undecided if this is a good thing for me or not.

Time will tell, it always does. Until then I'm keeping out looking for a new job.

Promotion???

Okay, so yesterday the regional manager rocks in and wants to have a private word with me. I frown, he says its nothing scary. We chat.

He offers me a new job, a 'better' job, more pay, not having to deal with the customers, not having to worry about commission targets, probably more work, more stress... and a transfer to the city store. Overall a good thing.

I think.

Watch this space and I'll keep you all updated to my new life as "Storeperson".

Its all about the ties

Ah, my work is great some times.

Let me give you an example.

Ties.

We are given nice bright read ties. They are 100% polyester. Which means they get dirty, and there ain't nothing you can use at home to clean them. I tried, I put one through the wash... when I got all the other clothes out the tie wasn't even wet!

Now, at work, we have a draw with ties in, for anyone to use, mostly old dirty ones, so I bundled them all up and took them off to the dry-cleaner and got them cleaned and then hung them back up at work, for everyone to use as necessary. So these aren't MY ties where talking about, they are the SHOP's so I paid for it with petty cash. Which everyone thought would be okay.

It wasn't. Orders from above. NEVER USE PETTY CASH FOR DRY CLEANING TIES. Um... okay... so how do when clean the general use ties? They didn't know, something about paying for it ourselves. But on the flip-side, we can order in brand new fresh ties without anyone getting even slightly annoyed.

I'm still trying to figure out how that can possibly make sense... but I guess it looks good in Nav, and somehow shows as a profit.

Editing the comments

If you've noticed that I've been editing the comments lately, then you may also be wanting to know why.

Well first off spam gets deleted with out hesitation. What is spam? Any comment that has links to sites that are of no interest to me, and not relevant to the discussions on my site. They are simple deleted (and the offenders added to my blacklist).

But actual real comments for real live people, well that's different. I make a point of publishing almost all the comments people post, yes even the negative ones.

But the last few days have seen a large number of comments posted, and I've simply been making a few slight changes because I don't want TOO many people finding this page, so names and other such details are being altered to protect my own butt.
